‘Berg Here Now’ – Manchester gets another ace outdoor store in the city centre
Yesterday, legendary British brand Berghaus joined it’s overseas luminaries Arc’teryx, Patagonia, Fjallraven and opened up a really cool store in Manchester city centre and we were lucky enough to attend. With no less that co-founder Peter Lockey and Sir Chris Bonington on ribbon cutting duties, we were welcomed into the new store to check out the entire range of Berghuas products, from Liam-friendly Trango reissues through to their high performance Extrem gear, the shop also features their canine Barkhaus selection as well as the Repairhaus where you can get your beloved Bergy brought back to life for free. A genuinely exciting and vibrant place to hang out, the store is everything a modern retail space should be, with clued up friendly staff and a broad range of options suited to each end of the outdoor spectrum, whether you’re heading to Annapurna or the Etihad. Given that we have now four big hitters with their own stores in the city centre, not to mention ace multi-brand ones such as Outsiders and This Thing Of Ours, I hope that more brands will feel the pull North and open up here and make Manchester the outdoor (as well as the musical) capital of the UK.
