Turning obsolete offcuts into fine art with Vincent Van Goretex

Not content with elevating repurposing and upcycling into an artform, the good guys at Greater Goods have taken the surplus materials that’s too irregular or difficult to transform into products to make a starry sky-ed masterpiece. Reinterpreting Van Gogh’s legendary Starry Night through the lens of function turned into form the finished piece is comprised of 10,000 individual, hand-cut pieces of fabric that were all sewn individually into place, changing the thread colour for every section in order to build up depth and texture with each layer. Though sadly not available for sale, the work reflects not just a visual beauty, but the time, skill, and care required to transform everyday remnants into something lasting and expressive. Inviting viewers to consider the value of craft whilst illustrating how the effort that goes into making something can be just as meaningful as the final result.
