YETI’s new Skala range packs a punch (and a whistle)
Having dominated the cool coolers and dead good drinkware market it seems that YETI now have their insulated eyes firmly set on hiking packs. Launching today, the Skala range is their first foray into this world and boasts thee different sized packs (32, 40 & 50 litre) in two adjustable size options to cover everything from fast day hikes to big multi-day adventures. Definitely sitting in the more rugged, framed category of packs stand out features include dual compression straps, stretch water bottle pockets on each side, a zippered lid pocket, a hydration reservoir sleeve and an inspired emergency whistle that’s built into the sternum buckle. Which is a really nice touch that demonstrates just how much the design team care about what they’re doing. Discovering this has also got me looking all over this cool pack for other hidden built-in features and I’m half expecting to find a mini-bar or a fold out moped in one of the pockets.
