Seattle brands Filson & Freeman have made a really rugged raincoat together

If you’re familiar with the Pacific North West then you’ll probably know that the amount of rainfall experienced in places like Seattle would put even Manchester’s rate of precipitation to shame. Which is the origin story behind the brand Freeman, who set out on a mission from their Capitol Hill apartment in 2011 to create the ultimate piece of outerwear for repelling the rain in their home city. Which they successfully achieved whilst also fostering a community that values goods that are made with care and built to endure. Sharing a similar dedication to high quality, long lasting outerwear their fellow Seattlites the iconic brand Filson ecently reached out to Freeman to join forces on making a special edition raincoat together, designed for for the city and the region’s unforgiving elements. At the core of the collab is is Filson’s legendary 11-oz. oil-finish Shelter Cloth, a tightly woven cotton fabric saturated with wax for long-lasting water resistance that (with the occasional re-waxing) lasts a lifetime. Whilst on the inside, the raincoat features Filson’s trusted 18-oz. Seattle Wool lining across the torso and hand pockets with the sleeves lined with smooth cotton canvas. With additional functional details that elevate the coat’s weather protection include a structured hood brim, a chin-high zipper shielded by a storm flap and snap-secured cuffs and pocket flaps that seal out the elements. The perfect combination of old school outdoor tech and timeless style, this is a very special raincoat that’s not only designed to last the distance in the great American outdoors but also to become a permanent fixture on you coat rack for several decades to come.
