Fjällräven turn leftovers into luxurious lifestyle collection

Whilst Samlaren may sound like a chunky Northern football manager it’s actually the name of Fjällräven collection that uses their leftover fabrics to transform them into one-of-a-kind garments. The latest drop from this range features patchwork-inspired pieces constructed from single leftover fabric, with the variations in detailing ensuring that each piece feels genuinely unique. Continuing Fjall’s focus on small-scale production and craft-driven design, this year’s Samlaren collection builds on the idea of letting available materials shape both the aesthetic and the construction of this super cool looking collection. Taking a similar approach to the ‘form follows function’ ethos, Fjallraven designer Samuel Stadell explains: “Through Samlaren, we continue to explore how to design using what already exists. The constraints of the materials become a creative driver in the design process, giving every garment its own distinct expression”. A stylish symbol of the Swedish outdoor brand’s commitment to durability and purposeful design and produced in limited quantities based on material availability, each Samlaren collection differs from the last, resulting in a collection that evolves over time. Turning them into highly desirable garments is is without a doubt the best way to go in terms of making the best possible use of leftover fabrics and a shining example of just how cool waste reduction can be. I have a lot of time for that lovely large tonal fox patch too, top work Fjallraven!
