Nike ACG’s new drop is designed to disappear
Inspired by the unique flora and fauna of the Mont Blanc region surrounding Chamonix, Nike have developed an exclusive new camouflage pattern that they’ve called ‘Chamo Camo’ for their latest line of ACG performance racing apparel. Merging technical functionality with an eye-pleasing take on mother nature’s colour palette, you’ll spot hues of granite, limestone and sandstone formations, as well as the spruce and pine forests in amongst the patterns of this dead good DPM. Though we’re more used to seeing trail runners in colour popping combos that make them stand out on the mountains, ACG apparel senior manager Patrick Montoya explained the reasoning behind this more stealthy approach: “Long-distance trail races are a constant shift between chasing and being chased. Whether athletes are leading the field or working their way through it, there is a desire to move unnoticed and stay focused on the terrain ahead. Chamo Camo was built around that insight.” Dominated by their Dri-FIT ADV technology the new apparel range is further complimented by Nike footwear silhouettes such as the Ultrafly Trail, Zegama Trail, Wildhorse, Terra Kiger and Pegasus Trail all being given the cohesive Chamo Camo treatment too. A classic case of ‘standing out by blending in’, ACG have a decent rep in the camouflage game and it’s good to see them expanding their inspiration to include the alps.
