ThruDark reaches the Pinnacle of technical backpacks
Following on from last year’s everyday carry luggage range and after some relentless R&D in the world’s most extreme environments, ThruDark have released their brand new range of technical backpacks. Designed, developed and tested by its former UK Special Forces Co-Founders Anthony ‘Staz’ Stazicker CGC and Louis Tinsley, Staz even managed to put one of the new 30L Dyneema Orbital climbing packs through it’s paces whilst successfully summiting Everest back in May 2025. Whilst the Pinnacle hiking pack series proved it’s mettle after some serious backpack beasting everywhere from the Moroccan desert through to Alpine traverses with plenty of exposure to the very worst that British weather can offer. Available in 28L and 42L sizes, the Pinnacle packs are both constructed from Robic 210D Hex Nylon with a C0 DWR water-repellent treatment and a 1,500HH hydrostatic head rating. With Robic being is an enhanced variant of (100% recycled) nylon that’s engineered to deliver a whopping 50× the tensile strength and 2.5× the tear resistance of standard nylon. Adding to these robust credentials both packs feature reinforced high-abrasion contact points with 840D ballistic nylon too. Durable and lightweight, without the environmental cost of virgin synthetics, these packs also include a handy integrated detachable/stowable rain cover for when it’s really pelting it down that’s constructed from 210D Nylon Ripstop and rated to 10,000HH+ and deploys in seconds. I’m a big fan of ThruDark products, as you can always tell with each piece you get your hands on that the founders have gone above and beyond to make sure it’s super tough, deliver an impressively high level of performance and will also make that trek into the Cairngorms feel like you’re on some kind of top secret recon mission deep behind enemy lines, or maybe that’s just me?
