Rab, BMC and the Peak District National Park all step up to save Stanage

Whilst the news is generally pretty miserable atm here’s something nice and positive to add a little cheer to your day. Legendary outdoor brand Rab, the British Mountaineering Council and the Peak District National Park recently joined forces to move a whopping 8 tonnes of aggregate in order to help restore key boulder landings at the legendary Stanage Plantation, one of the UK’s most legendary climbing locations. Working together on the ground, volunteers transported more than 300 individual 25kg bags by hand up steep terrain to reinforce worn and eroded climbing landings beneath various popular gritstone routes. This demanding, practical work forms part of ongoing efforts to protect heavily used areas from erosion, improve safety, and maintain sustainable access for the thousands of climbers and walkers who visit Stanage each year. With Product Director at Rab Tim Fish : “Places like Stanage are fundamental to both our community and our craft. As a brand built in the mountains, we have a responsibility to help protect the environments that shape our products and inspire our customers. Personally, I’ve been climbing at Stanage for over 30 years. As regular users, we’ve all got a role to play in looking after it, so it’s brilliant to be able to get involved with valued partners to support the places we love.” It’s great to see everyone coming together on ‘pay it back’ projects like this and hopefully we’ll see more collaborations of this sort from more of our favourite outdoor brands and organisations.
