Meet the Silvestre, a mighty real, made in Italy approach shoe from Houdini and Demon
Did everyone get the disco reference in that title? Good. So Swedish mountaineering brand have been down to see their mates Demon in Montebelluna and come up with a truly gorgeous approach shoe they’ve called ‘Silvestre’. A name which apparently means ‘of the woods’ and has been designed to effortlessly transition between urban and wild whilst reconnecting the wearer to the deeper, more untamed spaces of our world. Which is EXACTLY the type of thing that we really love here at Outdoor Licence, as we get just as excited at the prospect of exploring a new city as we do a new mountain, different but the same. Super tough and fully functional, this streamlined, low profile shoe has been hand made in Italy and features an all important rubber-rand reinforcement with protective layers for multi-day alpine missions. Added to which is a comfy slip-on microfibre gaiter and a super-crepe micro-porous EVA midsole with a Vibram outer sole. Effortlessly blending fashion with functionality it’s great to see two brilliant brands working together to come up with something as impressive as the Silvestre. Though this is another pair of kicks that, though I know they can fully do the business up in the alps, I would prefer to keep safe from harm and on my feet whilst exploring more horizontal and concrete based terrain to preserve them for as long as possible. Which given how tough they are probably means forever doesn’t it?
