66°North aim to (Ice)land a Gold medal at the Winter Olympics
If its a question of who has the most fire fits, then the Icelandic Winter Olympic team can just go ahead and demand their gold medals because for this years games in Milan their kit sponsors are the legendary 66°North. Currently celebrating their 100th anniversary the Icelandic outdoor brand has previously dressed their national olympic team in 1998 at Nagano and Lillehammer in 1994. Friend of Outdoor Licence and 66°North CEO Helgi Oskarsson had this to say about the official sponsorship:
“We have collaborated with Iceland’s Olympic team for prior games, and this sponsorship feels especially meaningful as we mark 100 years of 66°North. We’re deeply proud of our Icelandic heritage and therefore honoured to once again outfit our national team with our gear”
Covering all bases, 66°North will be responsible for both the Icelandic Olympic and Paralympics teams and supplying the clothing worn at the Opening Ceremony and during the Games themselves, as well as for training and everyday wear. Central to the collection are some of 66°North’s best-selling technical pieces, which includes the versatile Hornstrandir jacket and trousers, that have been customised for this auspicious occasion. Allowing us mere mortals to get in on the Olympic steez action too, 66 will also be releasing a merch capsule consisting of beanie, tee and a hoodie, though you’ll have to nip over to Iceland to pick one of these exclusive pieces up. Does anyone know if I’ve still got time to try and make the team qualifiers? I’ve seen Cool Runnings at least 17 times….
