Help Jeff & The Ramblers find the right path

If, like us, you’ve recently found yourself admiring Jeff Brazier’s outdoor kit on shows like Race Across the World & Pilgrimage then it’ll perhaps be no surprise that hear that he’s teamed up with our mates at The Ramblers society for their latest launch. Coinciding with National Walking Month, Jeff and the charity are joining forces today to kickstart a competition that invites people across England, Scotland, and Wales to share a photo of their favourite walking path, with the winning route crowned as the nation’s top trail. Jeff clearly knows the benefits of enjoying a regular leg stretch and had this to say about the new campaign:

“It’s a privilege to be on the judging panel to find Britain’s Favourite Path. Walking means a lot to me physically, mentally and emotionally. It’s such an asset to have a good knowledge of the best walkways on our doorstep and further afield, so many of those that will be nominated will serve as great inspiration for those who find freedom in great outdoor spaces. To walk is not just to exercise and breathe fresh air, it’s the peace and clarity that comes from walking in nature, so a good path won’t just be aesthetically pleasing, it’ll be a healer too.”

Wise words from the great man and something that we wholeheartedly agree with here at Outdoor Licence, though between the four of us no one can quite agree on the best path though it’s definitely either in the Cairngorms, the Lake District or in the vicinity of Kinder Scout. We suggest, to avoid arguments that you make the decision by yourself which you can enter HERE once you’ve decided. This years winner will will follow in the footsteps of last year’s victor, the Thursley Common Boardwalk in Surrey, which was nominated by Michelle Presley, who grew up walking in the area. Last year saw over 600 paths nominated from across the UK, with eight shortlisted by a panel of judges before being opened up to the public for voting. This year Jeff Brazier and the other expert judges will select eight winners, one from each category before putting them to a public vote in July to determine the overall favourite. The overall winner will have the honour being crowned Britain’s Favourite path whilst Cotswold Outdoor will also provide them with a £200 voucher whilst each category winner also receives a £50 voucher.
