SheRACES set the pace for Women’s Trail Running

Last weekend saw the inaugural SheRACES event near to Hathersage in the Peak District, a women only 25 & 50km trail race founded by ultrarunner and gender equity advocate Sophie Power in collaboration with Ourea Events. Reaching a 100% completion rate for both distances this landmark moment in
inclusive, female-focused sport was all about challenging long-standing industry norms to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for women. This innovative and inspired event featured no cut-off times, sanitary products at every aid station, an abundance of toilets, exceptional medical support and even included personal check-ins for pregnant runners. So it comes as no surprise that the race proved a roaring success from the offset and has already set the gold standard for women’s trail running. With founder Sophie quoted whilst welcoming runner’s through the finish line as saying:

The SheRACES Trail Series was everything we dreamed it could be, a race where every woman felt seen, supported, and celebrated. This isn’t just about crossing a finish line; it’s about changing the start line for women everywhere. We’ve proven that when we build races with women in mind from the ground up, we create space for everyone to thrive.”
