Olympic standard outerwear from Our Legacy and Goldwin
Call me a massive narcissist, but sometimes I collaborations look like they were put together specifically to blow my fashion-meets-functionality loving mind. I say this because I’ve been a massive fan of super cool Swedes ‘Our Legacy’ pretty much since their inception and have been equally enamoured by Japanese mountain gods ‘Goldwin’ for a similar amount of time. So imagine the ridiculous levels of glee I experienced when this collaborative collection between both brands recently popped up on my radar. Yes that’s right, they were very high. Heavily focussed on snow sports, this majestical monochromatic layering system features military spec removable patch branding alongside technical fabric favourites Goretex, Polartec and Cordura. Whilst the overall aesthetic pays homage to the very special relationship that exists between Goldwin and Our Legacy’s mountainous homeland. A unique partnership that started back in 1987 when Goldwin first became the official uniform supplier to the Swedish National Ski Team, a winning partnership that lasted for almost three decades. Shot in Nozawa Onsen (just outside of Nagano in Japan) the stunning campaign imagery features legendary Swedish snowboard pioneer Ingemar Backman. The region holding a particular resonance both for him and the history of snowboarding itself, as its where Backman first competed on the world stage in 1998, proudly representing Sweden in his Goldwin team suit.
Jockum Hallin, the founder and Creative Director of Our Legacy Workshop (the creative project arm of the brand responsible for the collab) had this to say about this perfect pairing:
“Goldwin makes incredible gear, and they’ve given us the reins to create our optimal version of mountain outerwear with zero compromises. I’ve watched Goldwin since I was young, from when they were doing busy-looking ski wear and speed suits in the ‘80s and ‘90s, around when I first started snowboarding, to the quiet, state-of-the-art mountain equipment they offer today. It’s an exciting and personal project to bring to life through Work Shop, connecting my over 30 years of experience on the mountain with the progressive tech and precision that the Goldwin team and factories occupy today”.
