Diemme & Rayon Vert are in the (farm) house!

Autumn always provides an ideal opportunity to upgrade your footwear game, and the new Diemme x Rayon Vert ‘Grappa Verde’ would make a great choice for anyone after a pair of super suave shoes to kick through the freshly-fallen leaves. Engineered for everyday use and built on Diemme’s Grappa silhouette, the collaboration features four different variants (Olive / Sand Tweed, Green / Blue Tweed, Grey Nylon, Maroon / Cream Tweed) with the wool versions having been made using Diemme’s beautiful archive of deadstock fabric. Referencing old school mountain garments, the choice of fabrics are those traditionally worn by “Alpini” in the past. Harking back to a time when performance wear was achieved through the construction and fibre choice rather than synthetic treatments or cutting edge technology. One of the earliest examples of performance fabric, Tweed has been valued for centuries for its tightly woven wool structure and natural resistance to wind and moisture. Offering durability, breathability, warmth, and shape stability, even with prolonged use in cold outdoor conditions. Whilst the Grey Nylon iteration of the Grappa Verde delivers a more contemporary interpretation while still maintaining the same functional balance.

Commemorating their inaugural collab, Rayon Vert and Diemme visited a cascina (a traditional Alpine structure) renovated by their friends Chloe and Ale in Graubünden, Switzerland, near the San Bernardino Pass, to capture the campaign through the lens of Theodor Guelat. The renovation itself was guided by Chloe’s architectural vision and largely a DIY project with help from the local community and Chloe and Ale builing much of the interior themselves. Their approach to the house felt closely aligned with the process behind the Grappa Verde, where discontinued fabrics were re-purposed to be the main material behind an exciting new footwear release.
