Black Diamond presents ‘Always Alive’

We’re booking in our mid-week slump a day early here at Outdoor Licence, purely so that we can down tools, make a brew and put our feet up to watch the latest film from our mates at Black Diamond. Their mini-docs have become a solid choice for providing both the eyes and mind with something significant enough to inspire and amaze us enough to power through the rest of the week like the champions we are. Their latest cinematic masterpiece follows BD athlete Hillary Gerardi on her ascent of Mont Blanc as she achieves the fastest known time on record for scaling Europe’s highest peak. A heroic feat that admirably Hillary has used to highlight the horrors of climate change rather than running around telling everyone just how good she is at running up and down mountains really quickly, which is exactly what we’d do. As Hillary also explained in a recent interview with Runner’s World: “Climate change is changing seasonality in the mountains and making it harder and harder to predict when there may be good conditions and weather window,”. A breathtakingly beautiful film ‘Always Alive’ was directed and shot by Davina and Seb Montaz-Rosset who perfectly captured the drama whilst exposing the complexities that climate change adds to taking on such an endeavour as well as its more worrying long term effects. Check out this inspiring film below:
