A mountain-friendly mid-layer from Inselberg

Designed for alpine professionals where your layering game can mean the difference between happiness or hypothermia, the Pascal hoody from Inselberg is an adaptable layer made for the most demanding conditions. Constructed using Polartec Power Stretch Pro, a dual-surface fabric that pairs a durable nylon exterior with a soft brushed interior, this technical hoody offers unparalleled warmth, comfort, and resilience. And unlike standard base layers the 490gm Pascal has been developed to offer four-way stretch, and abrasion resistance alongside excellent moisture management. Field tested in the harsh and unforgiving mountains of New Zealand on multi-day missions the R&D team paid close attention to fit under load, range of motion, and long-term durability. Whilst the articulated sleeves, gusseted underarms and low-profile elasticised hood were each refined through feedback from guides and alpine SAR members. Whilst each of the storage features have been streamlined for alpine use too, with two chest pockets and two hand pockets (with TPU zipper pulls) alongside a laminated internal security pocket designed to keep all your essential items secure without adding bulk. Like all his products, keen alpinist and Inselberg founder Jarlath Anderson has been hands on in the development of the Pascal hoody and had this to say about this versatile mid-layer:

In alpine environments, layers don’t just need to insulate—they need to survive being dragged over granite, stuffed into packs, and worn day after day. We built the Pascal with that in mind. It’s a piece you can wear hard without worrying about it giving out.

Though it’s all about performance and technicality, this piece of Polartec perfection also ticks our ‘Can I wear it down the pub?’ box too, thus making it the number one choice for transitioning into the colder months whether you’re conquering the alps or the optics.
