SEVENSTORE presents ‘Eyes to the Ether’
One of the key inspirations behind setting up Outdoor Licence was to play a part in demystifying and democratising the outdoor world and offer a helping hand to those not sure how to get out there and enjoy a bit of nature. To many people the outdoors can be seen as something of a locked door where they neither belong or deserve to be let in, hence our intention to grant everyone a licence to enjoy the outdoors. Whilst clearly there is some knowledge you need to know before heading out on an all dayer (i.e. take someone who knows what they’re doing if you don’t, plan your route on a map, take appropriate clothing and plenty of supplies etc) equally there is nothing to stop anyone from doing a quick circuit of a reservoir or exploring a well signposted nature trail.
So with all of the above in mind it’s great to see the latest campaign from SEVENSTORE (shot by our good mate Percy Dean) exploring the anxiety and excitement involved in planning for, and heading out on a solo adventure. Whilst we don’t recommend using an ice axe to eat a pot noodle we like the fact that our novice adventurer is aware of the need to be seen as well as surefooted, so not only does he take a head torch with him but also opts for a pair of New Balance 860v2 from the new ‘Northern Lights’ pack. Inspired by the mesmerising hues of the aurora borealis, these super comfy runners aren’t a bad choice for those looking to explore the hills in the Summer months. And before you experts start to shout ‘noooooo he should be wearing GORETEX boots FFS!!!‘ put your prejudice on hold for just a second and think of these incredibly well made trainers as a gateway drug into a wonderful world away from screens, smog and cynical minds.
