MO/GO Go Gadget Pants!
When your legs don’t work like they used to before, you no longer have to sit around feeling terrible and listening to Ed Sheeran (well you would wouldn’t you?) thanks to a truly spectacular new invention. Designed by a google offshoot company called Skip specifically to make human movement more joyful, the MO/GO is a wearable robotic leg support to help those with mobility challenges caused by ageing, fatigue or injury get back out there enjoying the outdoors. Inspired by one of nature’s best climbers the good old mountain goat, these powered pants
enable users to tackle elevation like never before. The MO/GO works by using a battery-operated motor thats connected to a suite of sensors and a computer module that predicts and assists the user’s movements. Which provides an impressive 40% boost to the leg muscles on the way up whilst also supporting the knees on the way down.
Skip partnered up with Arc’teryx and integrated the MO/GO system within the Gamma Pant due to its breathability, abrasion-resistance and soft shell stretch for active pursuits, and co-created bespoke carbon support structures to spread force from the motor across the leg ensuring comfort during extended periods of hiking. Extensively tested out on hiking trails in the US and the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, the MO/GO has been fine tuned to feels like a natural extension of the body that enhances mobility without drawing attention to itself. Something of a game changer this sleek, slimline design sets it far apart from previous medical devices available to date. Maybe now is the time to finally throw away those walking poles and embrace the robotic world for that next calf burner up Ben Nevis?
