Garmin navigates its way onto the high street

I don’t know what’s going on at the moment but it appears there’s some kind of revolution happening in terms of bricks and mortar stores at the moment. As previously mentioned it appears that we are finally getting the stores that we want popping up in real life in some of our favourite retail spots. The latest premium brand to treat us to a physical place to buy their wonderful wares comes from Garmin who have just opened their first ever store in Southampton’s prestigious Westquay Centre. Set over nearly 1,500 square feet the stunning location showcases Garmin’s broad range of game changing smartwatches, handheld GPS systems, cycling computers and golf devices as well as its award winning products for cars and the marine industry.

Managing Director of Garmin in the UK & Ireland Jon Oliver had this to say about the exciting new development: “We are thrilled to bring Garmin’s extensive product range to one location on the high street in the UK for the first time. We’re passionate about our products and excited for more customers to experience them first-hand, whether that’s through speaking to our expert staff or attending the events we will hold for the local community. It feels fitting that the next step in our growth in the UK is the opening of this store in Southampton’s Westquay, down the road from our European headquarters.”

Situated just down the road from their European HQ this sleek new store launch follows on from the brand’s sponsorship of the annual Garmin Ride Out (with Action Medical Research) as well as local football team AFC Totton, the New Forest Marathon and various other active events in the area including the Southampton Boat Show and Cowes Week Regatta. Clearly keen to give something back to the community the new Garmin store will be looking to engage with the local community via various store activations throughout the year, with the help of its partners and loyal customers. This is great news for any adventurers, athletes and outdoor enthusiasts in the South West who like to have a face to face chat with an expert before buying the latest piece of life improving tech. Can we have one up North next please?
