A Jordanian jaunt in the Vallon Heron Desert
World renowned for pairing cutting edge performance eyewear with iconic silhouettes and classic styles Vallon have just released a pair of shades that will make all of your Indiana Jones based dreams come true. Their latest version of the classic Heron shades is a desert version that have been engineered with but with the ever-shifting climates of the desert in mind. Keeping your peepers protected throughout the extreme heat of the midday sun as well as freezing nights, sudden sand storms, and high-glare salt pans. To put these polarised lenses through their paces, Vallon enlisted the help of adventurer and world-traveller Christine Bergholdt who embarked on an impressive 600 km journey along the Jordan Trail, from Umm Qais to the South Beach of Aqaba wearing a pair of Vallon Heron Desert via donkey and then camel. Clearly an epic quest with plenty of challenges, here’s what Christine had to say about her choice of adventure friendly eyewear:
“My Heron Desert glasses endured everything from rocky mountain trails to relentless desert sandstorms, and the salty waves of the Red Sea. They were stolen and recovered, played with by children, tried on by curious locals, and even sat on more than once—yet they never broke. They protected my eyes through every twist and turn of the adventure, and if the countless compliments were anything to go by, they also made me look like a heroine straight out of Mad Max.”
Which perfectly encapsulates the joy of wearing a pair of Vallons for me, in that they make you feel instantly ‘iconic’ when you pop a pair on whilst also providing optimum protection. It’s like discovering the perfect looking pair of jeans only to discover that they’re also made of Goretex.
