Take a digital detox with Vango and CampWild this weekend
Not that we need much of an excuse to swap our screens for bucolic scenes but Vango have commissioned a study that reveals reveals UK adults can only manage an average of 16 hours without their digital devices with 13% of respondents confessing they can’t go more than 1–2 hours without checking a screen. Whilst over a third (34%) of people admit they want more offline time but work commitments (especially for 25–34-year-olds) keep 60% of them glued to their devices. Providing a solution to this digital dilemma, trusted outdoor equipment brand Vango has teamed up with wild camping community CampWild to launch a timely campaign that urges the nation to disconnect digitally and reconnect with nature. A partnership that champions the growing trend of mindful camping and wild escapes, that is scientifically proven to improve mental health (30%), mental clarity (30%) and reduce stress (29%).

Further feedback from the study reveals that nearly 3 in 10 (29%) Brits are already planning countryside or camping getaways this Bank Holiday, representing a serious shift away from city breaks and toward rural retreats. In fact, 50% of adults believe camping is one of the best ways to bring family and friends together without digital distractions. Quietly, almost 2 in 5 (38%) even admit they enjoy being out of signal range, even if they won’t say it out loud. Whilst founder of CampWild Tom Backhouse had this to add: “There’s a wild adventure waiting just beyond the Wi-Fi signal. Whether it’s a back-to-basics family trip or a solo digital detox, we’re helping people explore incredible natural spots on their doorstep, and rediscover the joy of being offline.” So there you have it, less screen time, more green time!
