Meet the Tarantino of Mountain Sunglasses

Somewhat paradoxically I haven’t had that much use for my sunglasses during this washout of a Summer yet now the mercury and the position of the sun are starting to dip I frequently find myself reaching for my bins. The eye protection in question being my beloved Heron Mountain alpine sunglasses that are made by Vallon, a company that describes itself as being like Tarantino in that they always pay homage to the past when creating something new. Perfomance driven and with all products given lifetime guarantees these aren’t just glasses to make you look like Clint Eastwood in the Eiger Sanction they walk the walk as well as talk the talk. I know this for a fact as I posted about them on my instagram saying how great the Herons are for a mooch around the Peak Distirct only for one of my mates to confirm they were also brilliant in the Himalayas too. Often irked by blinding sunlight and the wind whipping my eyes I’ve been looking out for a pair of sunglasses with side shields and a centrepiece for quite some time, a quest that’s quite possibly also informed by my lifelong admiration for Chris Lowe of the Pet Shop Boys. So it’s incredibly staisfying to find a piece of kit that both does the job perfectly whilst simultaneously making me feel like a style icon. Now if you don’t mind I’m off to write the draft for my own film script called ‘Once Upon a Time in Hathersage’.
